Harmony [하모니] OST single
The much anticipated collaborated single by Lee Young Hyun and Brown Eyed Girls’s JeA was released just before Christmas. Their duet “Harmony” [하모니] is the first OST single released for the movie of the same title. Both are great singers in their own right, and their voices meshed well together in this powerful ballad.

Big Mama Christmas videos
I love Big Mama’s Christmas album, which is being played a lot by me during this time of the season. Nothing like Big Mama’s angelic harmony to bring love and peace to my soul.
Merry Christmas to all Big Mama fans!

Vocal powerhouse BEG JeA and Big Mama Lee YeongHyun for duet collaboration
Brown Eyed Girls leader JeA and Big Mama Lee Yeong Hyun (28) will have their first collaboration since their debut.
According to Mnet Media on 15th December, the 2 will be singing a duet ‘When You Believe’ for the OST for a movie to be screened next year.
Mnet Media said, “JeA and Lee YeongHyun have both dreamed to be singers together before debut during their college days (They both attended the music course at DongAh Broadcast Arts College), and through this project album, they will meet again as 2 of the best singers.”
The 2 will be remaking the duet song ‘When You Believe’ originally by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Lee Young Hyun on Pops in Seoul
Lee Young Hyun has been busy promoting her new album. She recently appeared on Pops in Seoul, which resulted in these rare clips of her interview with English subs! Definitely check it out!
Sidebar: I was curious to hear what she had to say when they mentioned Big Mama, but there was no hint of the rumoured trouble with the group. I hope this is a good sign?
“Blind Love” (눈먼사랑)
“The Power of Love” (awesome rendition!)
My thoughts on Take It.
I revamped the site a bit and added ‘Solo Projects’ page to keep track of Big Mama members’ individual projects. I also added Lee Young Hyun’s EP for download (see post below).
I listened to the CD twice so far and liked it. The tracks are mostly ballads that utilize Young Hyun’s powerful voice. I don’t understand Korean, but juding by the track titles, it seems like most songs are depressing love songs. If you take Young Hyun’s solos from the Big Mama albums and put them together, you’d get Take It. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; Young Hyun knows where her strengths are and put together an album that showcases them. I also wouldn’t say that the music is exactly like Big Mama’s. It is perhaps more pop and less R&B and has less variety, but I think Young Hyun fans would be satsified with her first solo effort.
My favourite tracks are “Ready for Love”, “Sorry, I Loved You” and the new version of “Resignation”. I find the middle tracks are the weakest because they are just, well, too similar to each other. Listening to the CD makes me miss Big Mama even more though. I really miss their harmony. I love Young Hyun’s voice, but together Big Mama is unstoppable. I hope, in spite of the rumours and the members going solo, we will still have the joy of hearing their harmony once again … soon.
In the meantime, give Take It a try. It’s worth it.

Hmm … are there really only 7 tracks on a full album?
So what do you guys think? I like the song, which utilizes Lee Young Hyun’s powerful vocal well. I also like the look of the music video. It’s simply and classy … although juding by the beginning of the mv where a woman is trying to drown herself, I guess the song is pretty despressing?
By the way, is “I’m Sorry, I Love You” or “I’m Sorry, I Loved You” a better translation for “미안해, 사랑해서”? The second one seems to make more sense to me, but I don’t speak Korean so I don’t know what the lyrics are about.

Update on Big Mama
I just received a message from Robert (our Korean speaking informant) informing me about the recent changes in the group that I was not aware of until now.
Apparently, both Lee Young Hyun and Lee Ji Young have left their record label Manwalldang after a long dispute over creative control. They have subsequently joined the same record company, under which Lee Young Hyun’s new album is soon to be released, followed by Lee Ji Young’s own solo album. The other two members Shin Yeon Ah & Park Min Hye are still with Manwalldang presently. There is no official announcement as to the status of the group or their finished 5th album.
OK, this is obviously NOT a good sign, and I was very surprised to hear that two of the members are now with a different company. I don’t know how the group can still be together now they no longer belong to the same company! But there hasn’t been any official announcement of .. well, ANYTHING, so no one knows what exactly is going on. Of course there is still the question of their 5th album, which was finished a while ago and waiting to be released. It is very confusing for the fans to say the least. I am certainly not feeling very optimistic at this moment. I just hope whatever the group decides or has decided, they would let their fans know about it soon. I won’t speculate any further, but let’s just say I’m very worried.

Can you imagine not seeing them together like this ever again?
