Big Mama released new single

Sorry for having disappeared for a while. Real life has kept me away from this site as well as from following Big Mama closely. I’m really grateful for people who continue to visit this blog and leave comments updating us on our favourite group. Since I will be rather busy for a while, I might need to rely more and more on other fans for the latest Big Mama news. I’m trying to think of a way to create an area on the blog here where fans can easily post about Big Mama and interact with each other. This way the site can keep going even when I’m not around.

Anyway, the latest Big Mama news is that the group just released a digital single called [절 대]. Google translated the title to “Never”. Any Korean speaker want to confirm or correct that?

You can check out their latest single below (thanks to DGRLA for the tip!):

It’s a pretty upbeat song and I like it. What do you think?

Where are they?

Can’t believe it’s already been two weeks since Big Mama released their fifth album, and we still haven’t seen them out and about promoting it! Why are they hiding out? Why are they torturing their fans? We’re going crazy waiting! :D

Anyway, here’s a clip of Lee Young Hyun singing ‘Resignation’ live. Not sure when it was filmed … earlier this year maybe? This will have to do for now until we get some new clips of Big Mama!

기다리다 미쳐 (Going Crazy Waiting) Full MV

The full version is out!

It looks like a depressing video in the tradition of Big Mama music videos. I guess it suits the song, which sounds awesome. How I have missed them! I hope they’ll get to make another music video that is more light-hearted though (like my favourite video of theirs, “Never Mind”). The newly released video and Big Mama’s comeback are already getting a lot of buzz on the internet. It’s so nice to see that the fans still remember and like them after they have been gone for more than 2 years. It’s been too long indeed.

By the way, I didn’t realize Big Mama has been together for 7 years! That’s quite impressive in the Korean entertainment industry. When you think about how they got started and what they have been through all these years with different record labels, it makes their fifth album even more meaningful somehow. Can I just reiterate how happy I’m that they have decided to stick together? Big Mama wouldn’t have been the same without the 4 unique and talented individual members that make up the quartet. I feel so lucky that we get to enjoy them for longer … hopefully a lot longer!

Anxiously awaiting their new album … one more day!

Big Mama MV Teaser

Alright, I just found the music video clip from some other source and uploaded it to YouTube.

Apparently their first single/title track will be “기다리다 미쳐”. Google translated it to “Wait crazy”, which doesn’t make much sense. From the little that I heard, I think it’s gonna be an epic song (just like all Big Mama songs, lol). What do you guys think?

Lee Ji Young sining karaoke

Check out this rare clip of Lee Ji Young sining karaoke on YouTube. According to Robert, this video was taken during her trip to Turkey to film a documentary for the Korean TV station EBS. LJY and the tv crew went to a karaoke bar in between filming and she sang her favourite song “One Late Night in 1996″ by Jang Hye Jin.

Correction: The video was taken after the Turkey trip. LJY was celebrating with the tv crew after the filming. The song title is “One Late Night in 1994″.

Thanks to DGRLA for the find!

They are back!!

Big Mama is back and their fifth studio album will be out on March 5th!

This is a surprising development in the ongoing saga of “did they or didn’t they break up”, and now I guess the answer is a resounding NO to the breakup rumours! According to our Korean friend Robert, all Big Mama members have left Manwalldang and are once again under the same record label. As a Big Mama fan, this is the best news possible after 2.5 years of inactivity from the group and all the rumours and uncertainties. I really hope this means they are back together for good and we will have many more years of great music from them.

Their fifth album is titled “5″ and two teaser tracks have been released.

Check out these videos for the two teaser tracks from the album.

“Only One Day” (하루만)

“Rainbow Dream”

I can’t wait for the new album. Their comeback is going to be sooo sweet!

Big Mama Christmas videos

I love Big Mama’s Christmas album, which is being played a lot by me during this time of the season. Nothing like Big Mama’s angelic harmony to bring love and peace to my soul. :)

Merry Christmas to all Big Mama fans!

Lee Young Hyun on Pops in Seoul

Lee Young Hyun has been busy promoting her new album. She recently appeared on Pops in Seoul, which resulted in these rare clips of her interview with English subs! Definitely check it out!

Sidebar: I was curious to hear what she had to say when they mentioned Big Mama, but there was no hint of the rumoured trouble with the group. I hope this is a good sign?

“Blind Love” (눈먼사랑)

“The Power of Love” (awesome rendition!)

“I’m Sorry, I Love You” [미안해, 사랑해서] Full MV

Hmm … are there really only 7 tracks on a full album?

So what do you guys think? I like the song, which utilizes Lee Young Hyun’s powerful vocal well. I also like the look of the music video. It’s simply and classy … although juding by the beginning of the mv where a woman is trying to drown herself, I guess the song is pretty despressing?

By the way, is “I’m Sorry, I Love You” or “I’m Sorry, I Loved You” a better translation for “미안해, 사랑해서”? The second one seems to make more sense to me, but I don’t speak Korean so I don’t know what the lyrics are about.
